Last night marked the opening of a new Latin restaurant, Macondo on the Lower East Side. The restaurant is named after the fictitious Colombian town in 1967’s magically realist novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. While I love Latin foods, I can’t help admitting the name alone naturally perked up my inner bookworm in addition to my taste buds. (More …)
